Head over to Tempe Town Lake this weekend for the 6th annual Arizona Dragon Boat Festival . You can take a picnic and just hang out all day–or buy something from the vendors who will sell about anything you could ask for. And there’s more to see than boat races. They have a full weekend of entertainment scheduled on the main stage, with tables and chairs available for easy watching.
The annual BIG party will be held Saturday night after the festival at Philly’s Sports Bar & Grill, 1826 N. Scottsdale Rd., Tempe. (480) 946-6666. Admission is FREE, but no food will be provided.
But the main event is at Tempe Town Lake.
Where: The Arizona Dragon Boat Festival will be at Tempe Town Lake, Tempe. Read about parking right here. Drive north on Scottsdale Road from Route 202. Turn left (West) at the first opportunity onto East Gilbert Rd. East Gilbert Rd will dead-end into the Marina. Or, turn left at the light onto Curry Rd (the Tempe name for Washington Street in Phoenix). Turn left (South) on College Ave and follow the signs to the Marina.
When: Saturday & Sunday, March 28/29, 2009. Starts around 8:00 AM or so and ends about 5:00 PM each day.
How much: Admission to the festival is FREE. You may buy food & drinks as you choose.
