If you love to travel, what about Fido? Pets are part of the family and it’s just not the same if they are left behind. Not everyone has a reliable four-legged sitter.
The majority of the time hotels have a no pet policy and what about the airlines? They all have different rules and regulations when it comes to traveling with our pets. It’s just all so stressful.
We have great news. In our pet-friendly society, the list of “pets welcome” continues to grow in 2024. Almost all airlines have a pet area in the terminal. Four Seasons Hotel has a separate room service menu for pets.
With all that’s available, if your heart is set on bringing your furry buddy, then do it. Here is a list of apps, hotels, and airlines that can help you maneuver the process of bringing your pet with you on your family vacation.
Delta
Delta is a great pet-friendly choice. It costs $125 roundtrip within the U.S. and $200 for international travel, except Brazil which is only $75. Please keep in mind, not all countries allow you to bring animals from the United States.
Pets must be at least 10 weeks old to travel within the US and most international destinations. Do your homework. Prices may vary.
JetBlue
With JetBlue, all you have to do is let the airline know by checking it off in the extras section when booking your flight. There is a $125 fee each way, and TrueBlue members earn 300 extra points per segment for adding a pet to a reservation. Fees can vary.
You can only bring only one pet on-board, and it must fit in the FAA-approved pet carrier that will easily slide underneath the seat in front of you. It’s important to know that pets aren’t allowed on routes to Jamaica, Barbados, St. Lucia, the Cayman Islands or Trinidad and Tobago due to the heat.
Check also in warm-weathered states. There is a temperature limit on when animals can be transported. There are a limited number of pets allowed on each flight, so make sure to plan ahead.
BringFido
BringFido is an amazing site that answers all the questions you may have. The site and app provide a database of pet-friendly restaurants, parks, hiking trails, and shopping destinations perfect for your trip.
You can also find accommodations that allow dogs on BringFido without any booking fees, a Vet for emergencies, and even groomers.
Four Seasons
Across the country, there are some Four Seasons Hotels that allow pets. Different policies are with each property, so it’s best to be safe. Check with the front desk ahead of time. The website states, “no additional fee” for pets.
Red Roof Inn
At Red Roof Inn, pets always stay for free. They do have some rules like you can’t leave their pet alone in the room and if you’d like to bring more than one animal along, you have to check with the hotel first.
Be sure to pick up after your pet. No one likes to walk their dog in that.
BarkHappy
This app is all about connecting dog owners to one another. Through the BarkHappy app, you can find dog-friendly places close by or set up play dates with other dogs.
Now go have an amazing trip, and yes, bring Fido.
