The Heard Museum is the place to see outstanding cultural performances at the World Championship Hoop Dance Contest, February 17 and 18. The skill and artistry of these competitors is absolutely astounding.
Hoop Dancing is an honored tradition and artistic expression performed by multiple Indigenous cultures originating throughout the United States and Canada.
The World Championship Hoop Dance Contest runs from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. on both February 17 and 18, 2024 at the Heard Museum’s outdoor Libby Amphitheater. The Heard Museum is located at 2301 North Central Avenue, Phoenix, 85004.
The public is welcome to watch. Both female and male dancers are judged on skill: precision, timing & rhythm, showmanship, creativity, and speed in one of five age-range divisions. World Champions are awarded in each division.
The entrance fee to watch the Hoop Dance Contest on either Saturday, February 17 or Sunday, February 18 is as follows:
$25-Adults
$20-Seniors (65+) and those with Heard Museum Annual Membership
$10-American Indians (w/ID), all Students, and Children (6-17)
Free for Children 5 & under

There is free public parking on-site, but it’s limited. Consider ride sharing, light rail, or bus. Those with an ADA sticker will find Handicap parking in designated neighborhood parking lots. For additional transportation information, click here.
