Morning Meditation- January 4, 2020 8 am – 10 am
Greet the day and start the new year off with an invigorating and reflective meditation practice. Instructor Marilynn Igleski will guide participants through a variety of meditation, including loving-kindness, mindfulness, and breath awareness. Marilynn has a 600-hour yoga certification and is certified in Yoga Nidra from the Southwest Institue of Healing Arts. She has been teaching yoga for over 10 years with a primary focus on the Yoga of Well Being. Bring your own mat.

Centennial Saturday, Gilbert History talk. Learn about Gilberts Amazing First Century
Kick-off their monthly Centennial Saturday celebrations with a talk from their very own President and CEO, Kayla Kolar. Kayla will be joined by their CentennialAdvisor Jerry Wilson. They will speak about how Gilbert began, who lived and worked here, and how it has grown into the delightful community it is today. You won’t want to miss this informative and interactive discussion. All your questions about the last 100 years will be answered and you’ll learn somethings you never knew! You will also have an opportunity to submit your favorite thing about Gilbert for their “100 years 100 Favorites” project.

From the Prairie Provinces to Ontario, Canada is an expansive country with along history. Speaker Lavern Aitchison, from the Mesa Family History Center, will assist program participants to uncover their Canadian genealogy. She’ll provide tips and clues to use when researching your family from our “neighbors to the North”.

African Music in the New World
Sule Greg Wilson, musician, historian and healer will share his knowledge of the banjo, the drums, blues, spirituals, gospel, barbershop, hip-hop, rumba, samba, cha-cha, and various other music styles that define our current musical world. Learn from whence they came, and the African traditions they grew from. You’ll sing talk and clap and maybe even dance.

African Mud Dyeing
Africa is known for its cultural and artistic traditions. any tourist visiting Africa is charmed by the breath-taking prints and colors used in their textiles and fabrics. The pride of Africancultureandheritae is displayed through their fabrics which have distinct styles and forms that indicate the ethnic diversity of the country. Join acclaimed artist, Jean Smith as she teaches participants how to use an ancient dyeing technique to make beautiful fabrics. All supplies are provided.
