School’s out, but don’t let the year’s learning get lost in the summer shuffle. Enhance the love of reading within your family and for yourself this summer with an inviting reading program from your nearest public library branch.
From the youngest ages, read to by an adult, to inquiring minds as children grow, up to adult years, all are welcome at your local library’s summer reading program. Most libraries within the county participate in Maricopa County Reads.
Maricopa County Reads is a FREE summer reading program provided by the Maricopa County Library District to all public, tribal, and military base libraries within Maricopa County. The primary goal of the program is to enhance literacy skills.
Maricopa County Reads encourages individuals to spend 20 minutes a day reading. Whether family members are newborns, on summer break from school, busy professionals, or retired, all are welcome to read books of their choice and earn points and in turn prizes.
Each Library System throughout the Valley and the different library branches within each system have various prizes and programming associated with this year’s theme of Adventure Begins at your Library. Families and individuals can sign up online through their local library.
Most Library Systems will link you here to sign up. You’ll be prompted to choose your Library System and nearest library branch. Choosing the branch is important since rules and prizes differ between the branches.
Click on each Library System below for rules and details, and to find your nearest library branch. There are more libraries throughout the Valley participating besides those listed below, so check with your nearest branch. Just keep reading to keep up the learning momentum.
