I didn’t need Wallethub to tell me that Arizona is tops for road trips, but you might.
From the site’s chart above, you can see its research found Arizona ranks #1 in terms of the cost of driving and accommodations. Summers in Arizona, while hot, do offer great pricing for lodging. You can’t beat being able to stay overnight at top tier resorts for around $100/night. In high season, those rates increase at least double and generally more than that. So, yeah, summer is a great time to visit AZ.
Wallethub also finds we’re in the Top 10 when it comes to fun things to do and scenic attractions. That shouldn’t be too surprising. After all, we get to claim one of the great wonders of the world right in our own back yard, the Grand Canyon. Given that, and the many other state and national parks, we also rank #1 for the price to camp out here. Contact Friends of the Cliffs in northern Arizona, for example, and they can help you plan your overnight in the wilderness areas surrounding Vermillion Cliffs for free.
If you’re going to be among the 40% or more of Americans who plan to take your summer vacation on the road, as Wallethub’s research finds, it makes sense to consider an Arizona road trip. If you go, what would you plan to do? Post a comment below and let us know.
